We hope our school name will remind us of the examples of the holy twins, St Benedict and St Scholastica, who knew what was truly important in life and learning.
(I teach this classroom style; all ages together) 1. Moolah Chart: children get points towards spending money for things like combed hair, shoes on, clean desk, etc 2. Singing: we sing a few childrens' songs and hymns 3. Cultural literacy studies: this year we've been studying the U.S. presidents & South America 4. Short lesson on grammar, science, or history 5. Bible story, scripture memory work 6. Saint story or spiritual development -this year we've done St Augustine and now working on Virtue Tree ~younger children dismissed for break after this~ 7. Catechism: using Apostolate's Family Catechism (children take notes in notebooks)
2. Reading/Literature 3rd & 6th: a book on each child's reading level, which I assign
3. Spelling: 3rd: CHC Spelling 6th: MegaWords by EPS
5. Handwriting: 3rd: CHC Handwriting
6. History: 3rd: stories from around the world, variety of books 6th: U.S. with "living" books 8th: Church history using CHC Middle School plans (also, Cultural Literacy studies in the morning)
7. Science 6th- Science encylcopedia 8th- books: Fruitless Fall, Microbiology (also, Cultural Literacy studies in morning)
8. Writing: all-variety of essays, reports, etc, assigned by me, also journals
